Now for some of the Week 8 details:

This year the project is worked in strips that are in rounds then attached(Mile A Minute). It is a Rectangular Afghan approx. 76″ x 48″ . You can make it in your choice of worsted weight yarn #4. Stashbuster, Ombre’, Self- Striping or even a color theme… At least 2 colors are recommended. I am making mine using the self striping yarn and complementing colors, but you can change colors each row or do yours in your own color scheme.

This week mine measures 46″ x 71″

Let’s get the stitching started!

Week 7 Stitches

  • Ch – Chain
  • St – Stitch
  • Sk – Skip
  • Sl St – Slip Stitch
  • Sc – Single Crochet
  • Bl – Back Loop

Colors

A – White B – Pumpkin C – Yellow D – Pink E – Self Striping Fruity

Joining

You should have 2 flower strips and 3 non flower strips(2 same color and 1 slightly different in the center). You will lay them out as follows:

  • Non Flower Strip(1 of 2 matching)
  • Flower Strip
  • Non Flower Strip(the one that has a different center color scheme)
  • Flower Strip
  • Non Flower Strip(2nd of 2 matching)

You will be working in the Back Loops Only for joining

Taking the first 2 strips, line up the side edges, Join color A with sl st to the top corner of the strip that is non flower(see pics), ch 1, sl st in bl of adjacent corner st(floral strip), ch 1, *Sl st in next bl of non floral strip, ch 1, sl st in adjacent bl st of floral st*, repeat *to* working down the strips, sl st in bl of one strip, ch 1, then sl st in adjacent bl in other strip, ch 1 until you finish in the bottom corners. Finish off

If you prefer to sc or sew the strips together that is the makers choice

Repeat the joining technique for all 5 strips.

Edging

With the RS of the project facing you, Join color A to the top with a sl st to the righthand corner.

Round 1: Ch 1, 3 sc in same st, {sc in next 18 sts, *3 sc in next st, sc in next 18 sts, sc in top of joining row, sc in next 18 sts*, repeat *to* 3 more times, 3 sc in next st, sc in next 18 sts, 3 sc in next st, sc in next 225 sts}, 3 sc in next st(bottom corner), repeat {to} once, join to beginning sc. Week 5 In Self-Striping Neutral

Each week I will have at least 1 round with a fun new stitch… This week it is the X Stitch, This is great for learning new stitches and making your afghan whimsical… The main base is a Granny Stitch… So easy!

Now for some of the details:

This year the project is worked in the round, turning over each round(unless indicated differently). It is a Square Afghan approx. 65″ x 65″ . You can make it in your choice of worsted weight yarn #4. Stashbuster, Ombre’, Self- Striping or even a color theme… At least 2 colors are recommended. I am making 3, Caron Cake Self- Striping, a Stashbuster… And I and now making a Red heart Ombre in Sweet Treat afghan… Trying to catch up…

This is my Week 2, Im working on Week 3 now!

Let’s get the stitching started!

Tips:

If using self striping yarn, it will change sometimes in the middle of the row… This is ok

If changing colors,(not using self striping or ombre’) The instructions don’t say to when to change color due to the use of self-striping/ombre being used, but you will change every row and join in the space you joined in unless otherwise stated using a slip stitch.

Work your ends in with a yarn needle as you go…This makes it much easier in the end…

WS vs RS Odd rows are the right side(RS) and Even rows are the wrong side(WS)

Week 5 size 52″ x 52″ … Different yarns and tensions may make your slightly different.. Don’t let it be to much of a variance or your project will be way to big or way to small

** This week you will do some rounds and not turn**

Super Saturday Quick Gift Crochet Along!!!

Super Saturday Quick Gift Crochet Along!!!

Today in my Beatrice Ryan Designs CAL Facebook Group we are doing a Super Saturday Quick Gift Crochet Along with my newest pattern, Grandma’s Double Thick Potholders both in Style I & II…

These are a great gift idea, super easy and fast… Christmas is just a couple weeks away and these are the perfect last minute gift!!

You can join my Facebook CAL Group by clicking here… and start the Super Saturday Fun!!! We will be positing our finished pics as we go… So get your yarn, hooks and camera ready and let’s do this!!!

I have been using Peaches & Cream Cotton Yarn by Yarnspirations… I was able to easily get this both at Walmart and JoAnns… But, many people just use their scrap yarn collection in Acrylic or Wool and that will work just fine as long as you don’t use these as a trivet with a very hot pan.

Click Here for the Free Pattern on Beatrice Ryan Designs…

And… don’t forget to save this pattern for the future in your Ravelry Favorites!! Click here for Ravelry!
