Northwest Beaches Tote Bag is an easy free crochet pattern, that works up quickly!!  The colors and style of this tote bag reminds me of the far northern beaches of California and Oregon…. Yellow sunshine, Blue skies, Green coastal grass!  Fill it up with your beach necessities, farmers market purchases or your workout clothes and pre workout for maximise your training sessions for the gym!!  I hope you enjoy my latest Free Crochet Pattern!!


Materials:

Yarn ~ Deborah Norville Everyday Soft Worsted Weight, approximately 500 yards. (Pictured here in Happy Baby) I used approximately 2 1/2 skeins.

Hook ~ H

Scissors and Yarn Needle

Stitches:

St ~ Stitch      Sk ~ Skip     Bl – Back Loop     Ch ~ Chain     Sl St ~ Slip Stitch     Dec ~ Decrease       Sc ~ Single Crochet     Hdc ~ Half Double Crochet   Dc ~ Double Crochet


Instructions:

Bottom

Holding 2 strands of yarn together ch 41

Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and each across. = 40 sc

Rows 2-14: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. = 40 sc

Row 15:  Ch 1, sc 2 more sts in same st(1st corner), sc 12 evenly across side rows, 3 sc in next st(2nd corner), sc in next 38 sts, 3 sc in next st(3rd corner), sc 12 evenly up side rows, 2 sc in same st as 1st st of the top row(4th corner). leave remaining unworked, Join with sl st. = 112 sc

Finish off.

Sides and Handle

Working with 1 strand of yarn

Round 1: Join in Bl of any center corner st, ch1, Bl sc in each st around, Join with sl st. = 112 sc

Rounds 2-5:  Ch 2(counts as hdc now and throughout), hdc around, join with sl st. = 112 hdc

*Even rounds will now be your right side*

Round 6:  Ch 3(counts as dc now and throughout), dc in next st, sk 2 sts, 5 dc(shell made) in next st, sk 2 sts, *dc in next 3 sts, sk 2 sts, 5dc shell in next st, sk 2 sts*, repeat * * 12 more times, dc in last st, join with sl st. = 14 5dc shells and 42 dc

Round 7:  Ch 3, turn, dc in next st, sk 2 sts, 5dc shell in next st,*sk 2 sts, dc in next 3 sts, sk 2 sts, 5dc shell in next st*, repeat * * around, sk 2, dc in last st, join with sl st. = 14 5dc shells and  42 dc

Rounds 8-25: Repeat round 7

Round 26: Ch 2, turn, hdc in next st, sc in next 5 sts(shell sts), *hdc in next 3 sts, sc in next 5 sts*, repeat * * around, hdc in last st, join with sl st.= 70 sc and 42 hdc

Round 27: Ch 1, turn, sc around, join with sl st. = 112 sc

Round 28:  Ch 1, turn, *sc in next 6 sts, dec over next 2 sts*, repeat * * around, join with sl st. = 98 sc

Round 29: Ch 1, turn, sc around, join with sl st. = 98 sc

Round 30:  Ch 1, turn, *sc in next 5 sts, dec over next 2 sts*, repeat * * around, join with st st. =84 sc

Round 31:  Ch 1, turn, sc around, join with sl st. = 84 sc

Round 32: Sl st in next 3 sts, ch 1, turn, sc in next 22 sts, ch 44, sk 20 sts, sc in next 22 sts, ch 45, sk next 20 sts, Join to 1st sc with sl st. *Be very careful not to twist the chains when crocheting.

Round 33:  Ch 1, turn, sc in 45 chains, sc in next 22 sts, sc in next 45 chains, sc in last 22 sts, join with sl st. = 134 sc

Rounds 34-39: Ch 1, turn, sc around, join with sl st. = 134

Finish off and weave in ends.

Happy Mother’s Day to all my fellow crochet friend’s!!  As a gift to you I made 3 new free crochet patterns to celebrate you and all of the mother’s we love… You still have time to whip these up as a fun gift for the mother you love!!  Using Red Heart Scrubby yarn, these work up quickly and are the perfect dishcloth to cheer up the kitchen!!

#1 Random Stripe Scrubby     #2 Geometric Scrubby     #3 Circle Scrubby


Materials:

Red Heart Scrubby- Approx. 20 yards each color per scrubby ~ Pictured here I used Duckie, Zesty and Bubble Gum

I ~ Hook

Stitches:

St ~ Stitch     Ch ~ Chain     Sc ~ Single Crochet     Sl St ~ Slip St

Sizing:

Each dishcloth is approximately 6 1/2″ x 6 1/2″


Instructions:

#1 Random Stripes Scrubby

*Color A – Bubble Gum     Color B – Zesty     Color C – Duckie*

Beginning with Color A

Ch 21

Row 1:  Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each across. = 20 sc

Row 2 & 3:  Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. = 20 sc

Change to color B

Rows 4-8:  Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. = 20 sc

Change to color C

Rows 9 & 10: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. = 20 sc

Change to color A

Rows 11 & 12:  Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. = 20 sc

Change to color B

Rows 13-17:  Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. = 20 sc

Change to color A

Rows 18-20:  Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. = 20 sc

Row 21:  Turn, Sl St in each st across.

Finish off.  Weave in ends

 

#2 Geometric Scrubby

*Color A – Zesty     Color B – Duckie     Color C – Bubble Gum*

*Tip – For the second half of the scrubby, you will be using 2 colors per row… you will just drop one color and pick up the second without cutting the yarn. To change colors here is a link to show the correct process – Changing Colors

Ch 21

Row 1:  Sc in the 2nd ch from hook and each across. = 20 sc

Rows 2-10:  Ch 1, turn, sc across.= 20 sc

Change to color B

Row 11:  Ch 1, turn,  sc in 1st 10 sts, change to color C, sc in last 10 sts. = 20 sc

Row 12:  Ch 1, turn, sc in 1st 10 sts, change to color B, sc in last 10 sts.  = 20 sc

Rows 13-20: Repeat rows 11 & 12

Row 21: Repeat row 11.

Finish off and weave in ends.

 

#3 Circle Scrubby

*Color A – Bubble Gum     Color B – Duckie     Color C – Duckie*

Using color A

Ch 2

Round 1:  8 sc in the 2nd ch from hook, join with sl st. = 8 sc

Round 2:  Ch 1, 2 sc in each st around, join with sl st. = 16 sc

Round 3: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in 1st st, sc in next st, * 2 sc in next st, sc in next st*, repeat * * around, join with sl st. = 24 sc

Round 4:  Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in 1st st, sc in next 2 sts, * 2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts*, repeat * * around, join with sl st. = 32 sc

Change to color B

Round 5:  Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in 1st st, sc in next 3 sts, * 2 sc in next st, sc in next 3 sts*, repeat * * around, join with sl st. = 40 sc

Round 6:  Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in 1st st, sc in next 4 sts, * 2 sc in next st, sc in next 4 sts*, repeat * * around, join with sl st. = 48 sc

Round 7:  Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in 1st st, sc in next 5 sts, * 2 sc in next st, sc in next 5 sts*, repeat * * around, join with sl st. = 56 sc.

Round 8:  Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in 1st st, sc in next 6 sts, * 2 sc in next st, sc in next 6 sts*, repeat * * around, join with sl st. = 64 sc

Change to color C

Round 9:  Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in 1st st, sc in next 7 sts, * 2 sc in next st, sc in next 7 sts*, repeat * * around, join with sl st. = 72 sc

Round 10:  Ch 1, turn, sc around, join with sl st. = 72 sc

Finish off and weave in ends.

Frog Pond Baby Blanket is a fun, whimsical design that reminded me of a pond near my home with blue water, grass, algae, cat tails and willows…  This multi-textrual blanket is a simple yet fascinating stitch pattern… I hope you will enjoy crocheting this project!!


Materials:

Color A~400 yards worsted weight yarn. Premier Yarns, Deborah Norville Everyday in Kiwi (2 skeins)

Color B~600 yards worsted weight yarn. Premier Yarns, Deborah Norville Everyday in Glass (3 skeins)

Hook~ K

Stitches:

Ch ~ Chain     St ~ Stitch     Sk ~ Skip     Sl St ~ Slip Stitch     Hdc ~ Half Double Crochet     Dc ~Double Crochet

Puff St ~ *Yo, insert hook in stitch, draw up loop*, Repeat * * 3 times. Yo, draw through all 7 loops on hook

Shell ~ 3dc in same st or 5dc in same st.

Gauge:

6 sc x 7 rows = 2″ x 2″

Size:

35″ x 35″ Blocked


Instructions:

The Right Side will be working Color A rows for the base of the blanket

Ch 92

With Color A ~ Kiwi

Row 1:  Ch 1, turn, sc in 2nd ch from hook and each across. = 91 sc

Change to Color B ~ Glass

Row 2:  Ch 3(counts as dc now and throughout), turn,  2 dc in same st, * sk 2 sts, sc in next st, sk 2 sts, 5dc shell in next st*, repeat * to * across, ending with a 3dc shell in last st. = 2 3dc shells, 14 5dc shells ** For rows 6 and beyond… you will place the sc around the chain and into the top of the center st of the shell like in row 4**

Change to Color A

Row 3:  Join, ch 1, turn, sc in same st, ch 2, sk 2 sts, sc in next st, *ch 6, sk shell, sc in next st(sc)*, repeat * * across to last sc, ch 2 sc in last st(top of ch 3). = 14 ch6, 2 ch2, 17 sc

Change to Color B

Row 4:  Join, ch 1, turn, sc in same st, *sk ch, 5dc shell in next sc, sk to 3rd dc of previous row, sc around ch and into the top of 3rd dc*see picture below*, repeat * *  across to the last st, sc in last st. = 15 shells, 16 ch1

Change to Color A

Row 5:  Join, ch 1, turn, sc in same st, *ch 6, sk shell, sc in next sc*, repeat * * across to end.

Rows 6-73: Repeat rows 2-5 17 times

Finish off

Edging:

Begin with Right Side Facing, join color A to the bottom right corner.

Row 1:  Ch 1, 3 sc in same st, sc 91 evenly across side rows to top corner, 3 sc in corner st, sc in next 3 sts/chs, sc around chain and into the top of the 3rd dc of shell from previous row, * sc in next 5 sts/chs, sc around chain and into the 3rd st of shell below*, repeat * * across, 3 sc in next corner, sc 91 evenly down next side rows, 3 sc in corner, Join to bottom corner.

Row 2: Turn, sl st across to the middle st of corner, ch 2(counts as hdc), 2 hdc in same st, hdc in next 93 sts, *3 hdc in next corner st, hdc in next 93 sts*, repeat * * 2 more times, join to the top of ch 2. = 384 hdc

Change to Color B

Row 3:  Join in any corner st, turn, ch 1, * 3sc in corner, sc in next 95 sts*, repeat * * 3 more times. Join to beginning. = 392 sc

Change to Color A

Row 4:  Join in any corner, turn, ch 2, 2 hdc in same st, hdc in next 97 sts, * 3 hdc in corner st, hdc in next 97 sts*, repeat * * 2 more times. Join to beginning. =400 hdc

Change to Color B

With wrong side facing

Change to color A

Row 7:  Turn to Right Side Facing. Finish off

Change to Color B

With Right Side Facing,

Row 9:  Join in any st, reverse single crochet around. Join to beginning.
