Materials:

Yarn ~ Red Heart Hygge(Hoo-gah) yarn in A. Sterling and B. Cloud. #5 bulky yarn. This is a soft slightly fuzzy yarn that is so plush you will love it! 132 yards per skein.

Hook ~ K

Size:

Brim ~ 20″ un-stretched   Top to Bottom ~ 10″

Gauge:

Double Crochet 3″ x 3″ = 8 stitches x 4 rows

Stitches: 

St – Stitch

Sp – Space

Sl St – Slip Stitch

Ch – Chain

Sk – Skip

Dc – Double Crochet

Fpdc – Front Post Double Crochet

Bpdc – Back Post Double Crochet

Cl – Cluster: Yo, insert hook in designated st or sp, draw up loop, Yo, draw through 2 loops, Yo, insert in st or sp, pull up loop, Yo,  draw through 3 loops, Yo, draw through 2 loops, ch 1, Yo, insert in st or sp,  pull up loop, Yo, draw through 2 loops, Yo, insert in st or sp, pull up loop, Yo, draw through 3 loops, Yo, draw through 2 loops.

Beginning Cluster: Ch 2, Yo, insert hook in designated st or sp, pull up loop, yo, draw through 3 loops, ch 1, Yo, insert in st or sp, pull up loop, Yo, draw through 2 loops, yo, insert in st or sp, pull up loop, Yo, draw through 3 loops, Yo, draw through 2 loops.

*By joining around instead of in the top of the beginning sts, you will make them shape into a fpdc.

*Carry your yarn up the hat when changing colors

*When changing colors, join with the next color in the joining st

Instructions:

Brim~ Color A

Ch 54 You will be working in the round

Round 1:  Dc in 4th ch from hook and each around, join around the top of the beginning ch dc. = 52 dc

Round 2-5:  Ch 3(counts as dc now and throughout), bpdc around next st, *fpdc around next st, bpdc around next st*, repeat *to* around, join around beginning dc. = 26 fpdc and 26 bpdc

Hat ~

Round 6:  Ch 3,*sk st, cl in next st, sk st, fpdc around next st*, repeat *to* 11 more times, sk st, cl in next st, sk st, join(with color b) around beginning dc. = 13 cl & 13 fpdc

Round 7: Color B- Ch 3, *cl in ch 1 sp of previous row cluster, fpdc around next fpdc of previous round*, Repeat *to* 11 more times, cl in next ch 1 sp, join around beginning ch 3 with color A. = 13 cl & 13 fpdc

Rounds 8-14: Repeat rounds 6 & 7

Round 15:  Sl st in next ch 1 sp of cl, beginning cl in same space, cl in each ch 1 sp around, join to the top of beginning cl. = 13 cl Finish off leaving 8″ tail for closing top of hat.

Weave tail in and out of each ch 1 sp, draw closed and secure.

Join color A to bottom of brim, ch 1, sc in each st around. Join with sl st. Finish off

Attach Pom Pom to top if you like the look of it!

Super simple messy bun hat!!  The  Boreal Bun Hat uses simple stitching and self stripping Boreal yarn by Premier Yarns to make this a quick and easy project…  Do you need to get out the door quickly?? Just pull your hair up through the top and whip it into a messy bun… Quick, Simple and you are out the door looking fashionable this season!!

Materials ~

Yarn ~ 150 Yards of worsted weight wool yarn.  I used Premier Yarns Boreal in Kingfisher -2 Skeins

Hook ~ K

Elastic Hairband

Size ~

22″ circumference un-streatched  and 9″ height

Stitches ~

St – Stitch     Ch – Chain      Sp – Space      Sk – Skip      Sl St – Slip Stitch      Sc – Single Crochet     Hdc – Half Double Crochet     Dc – Double Crochet     Fpdc – Front Post Double Crochet

*Shell – 3 dc in designated st.

*Reverse Sc

Instructions~

Round 1:  52 foundation sc (or ch 53, turn sc in 2nd ch from hook and each across), join with sl st to beginning sc being very careful not to twist the project = 52 sc.*The foundation sc is a bit more stretchy and will make a better base.

Round 2:  Ch 3(counts as Dc now and throughout), sk st, 3dc in next st, *sk st, dc in next st, sk st, 3 dc in next st*, repeat *to* around, join around beg dc(this will make the joining st look like a fpdc by going around and not in the st). = 13 shells & 13 dc

Rounds 2 – 15:  Ch 3, *3dc shell in next st(this will be the 1st st of shell from previous round), sk 2 sts, fpdc around the next dc*, repeat *to* around. Join with sl st around beginning dc. = 13 shells & 13 fpdc

*Attaching hairband – Ch 1, sc around the hairband into each st around, join with sl st to beginning sc.

BRIM

With right side still facing(outside of hat), join yarn in any st of beginning foundation sc row

Round 1:  Ch 1, sc in each st around, join to beginning sc. = 52 sc

Round 2 & 3:  Ch 2(counts as hdc), hdc in each st around, join with sl st to top of ch 2. = 52 hdc

Round 4:  Ch 1, reverse sc around, join with sl st to beginning st. = 52 rev sc

Finish off, weave in ends.

Congratulations, you now have a Boreal Bun Hat!!!

To celebrate the last day of Winter… Here is a brand new free crochet pattern~Wintertide Beanie!  If you loved the Wintertide Headband… This beanie is just as easy!! I hope you love this just as much!!

Materials:

Yarn~125 Yards Worsted Weight Yarn ~ I used Red Heart Super Saver in Jade for this project

Hooks~ J & K

Yarn Needle

Decorative Button

Stitches:

Ch –  Chain     St – Stitch     Sk – Skip     Sl St – Slip Stitch     Sc – Single Crochet     Dc – Double Crochet     Bl – Back Loop      Rev Sc – Reverse Single Crochet

Instructions: 

With K Hook ~

Chain 60, join with sl to form ring. Be very careful not to twist chain.

Round 1:  Ch 1, sc around, join with sl st to beginning sc. = 60 sc

Round 2:  Ch 3(counts as dc now and throughout), bldc in each st around, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. = 60 dc

Round 3: Ch 1, blsc in each st around, join with sl st in beginning sc. = 60 sc

Round 4-17: Repeat rows 2 & 3

Finish off leaving a long tail to draw top of beanie together.

Using yarn needle, weave tail in and out of every other stitch in top of beanie. Draw tight and secure

Brim:

Using J hook

With right side facing, join yarn with sl st to bottom edge of beanie.

Rounds 1-5:  Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st to beginning. = 60 sc

Round 6:  Ch 1, rev sc around, join with sl st to beginning.

Finish off and weave in ends

Tab:

*Even rows are the right side

Using J hook, ch 5

Row 1:  Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each across. = 4 sc

Rows 2- 12: Ch 1, turn, sc in each across. = 4 sc

Row 13: Ch 1, turn, sc in 1st st, ch 2, skip 2 sts, sc in last st. = 2 sc & ch 2

Row 14:  Ch 1, turn, sc in 1st st, 2 sc in ch2 space, 3sc in last st, 12 sc evenly down side of rows, 3 sc in 1st st of bottom, sc in next 2 sts, 3 sc in next st, 12 sc evenly up side of rows, 2 sc in top corner st, join with sl st to 1st st of row 14. =40 sc

Finish off

Attach button on wrong side of tab at the opposite end of the button-hole(ch 2 sp).

Gathering hat and placement of the tab ~ From the inside of the hat, push button to the right side of  beanie between 2 dc in round 8, bring the button-hole end around the brim of the beanie and button the tab closed.

You can make the hat less or more gathered by placing the button in any dc round.

Congratulations, you have finished your Wintertide Beanie!!!
