Materials: 

Yarn~ 1 Caron Cakes worsted weight yarn, 383 yards per skein. I used Spice Cake and Blueberry Kiwi.

Hook~ H   *You can use a larger or smaller hook to make the bag bigger or smaller

Pre purchased handles are an option

Scissors

Yarn needle

Dc ~ Double Crochet

Rev Sc ~ Reverse Single Crochet

X St – X stitch – Sk st, dc in next st, dc in previously sk st.

Instructions:

Ch 52

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, *ch 1, sk next ch, sc in next ch*, repeat *to* across. = 26 sc & 25 ch1 sps

Row 2:  Ch 1, turn, sc in 1st st, *sc in next ch 1 sp, ch 1, sk st*, repeat *to* across, sc in last ch 1 sp and last st. = 27 sc & 24 ch1 sp

Row 3:  Ch 1, turn, sc in 1st st, *ch 1, sk st, sc in next st*, repeat *to* across`. = 26 sc & 25 ch1 sps

Rows 4-99:  Repeat rows 2 & 3

Joining Row 1 to Row 99:

You will be working 1 st in row 99 then 1 st in row 1, this will join the two ends together.

Ch2 (counts as hdc), hdc in 1st st of row 1, *ch 1 sk ch 1 sp of row 99, hdc in next st of row 99, ch 1, sk next ch 1 sp of row 1, hdc in next st of row 1*, repeat * to * across. = 52 hdc & 51 ch 1 sts

Top Edging:

Join yarn with sl st to top of the bag(either end can be the top)

*No turning rows 1-3, turn rows 4 & 5

Row 1:  Ch 1, sc 96 sts evenly around the top of the bag, join with sl st to beginning sc. = 96 sc

Row 2:  Ch 3(counts as dc), X st, * dc in next st, X st*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. = 32 x sts & 32 dc.

Row 3:  Ch 1, sc in each st across. = 96 sc

Row 4:  Ch 1, turn, sc in each st around, join with sl st to 1 sc. = 96 sc

Row 5:  Ch 1, rev sc around, join with sl st to beginning st, finish off. = 96 rev sc

*Lining up the fancy join placement to the right 1/3 of the bag( See my bag at top for placement), sew bottom of bag closed.

Straps: 

2 options – 

Option 1: Crochet Handles

Ch 81(leave a tail for sewing handle to bag)

Row 1:  Sl st in 2nd ch from hook and each across. = 80 sl st

Row 2:  Ch 1, turn, sl st in each st across. = 80 sl st

Row 3:  Ch 3, turn, dc in each st across. = 80 dc

Row 4 – 5:  Ch 1, turn, sl st in each st across. = 80 sl st

Finish off, leave tail for sewing  handle to bag

Sew 1st handle to front inside and 2nd handle to back inside.

Option 2:  Purchased Handles

Sew handles on inside of the bag to the front and back.

Fun, Fresh and a Free Crochet Pattern!!  The Green Tea Scarf is a simple chevron pattern made with  “X” stitches…. This gives it a nice lacy, feminine look!! Using Caron Cakes Yarn lets all the color work happen before your eyes without having to weave in the ends too!!

SUPPLIES~

Yarn: 2 – Caron Cakes in Pistachio, 766 yards total(worsted weight)

Hook: H

STITCHES~

St – Stitch     Ch –  Chain     Sk – Skip       Dc – Double Crochet

X Stitch: Working over 2 stitches- Sk St, Dc in next St, Dc in previous st to create an X.

SIZE~

Approx. 8′ long using both Caron Cakes in full and 12″ wide

INSTRUCTIONS~

Ch 48

Row 1:  Dc in 2nd ch from hook, dc in next 6 chs, sk 2 chs, dc in next 6 chs, 3 dc in next ch, dc in next 6 chs, sk 2 sts, dc in next 6 chs, 3 dc in next st, dc in next 6 chs, sk 2 chs, dc in next 6 sts, 2 dc in last st. = 46 dc.

Row 2:  Ch 3(counts as dc now and through out), turn, dc in same st, *3 X sts over next 6 sts, sk 2 sts, 3 X sts over next 6 sts, 3 dc in next st*, Repeat *to* 1 more time, 3 x sts over next 6 sts, sk 2 sts, 3 X sts over next 6 sts, 2 dc in last st. = 18 X sts, 4 dc

Rows 3- 135: Repeat row 2.

Finish off.

This lovely crochet cowl design is soft, fashionable and can be worn in several ways… Pull it over your head to be worn as a contemporary cowl, Down over your shoulders to keep the chill off, As a hooded wrap to keep you warm and dry… However you wear it, the Winterberry Warm-up Cowl will keep you in style!!

The self-striping yarn makes this design easy to whip up with just one cake of Caron Cakes…  A two row repeat allows for that project your can work on anywhere!!  I hope you enjoy my latest design!!


Materials:

Yarn ~ 380 yards worsted weight yarn. Caron Cakes Yarn in Red Velvet was used for this project.

Hook ~ I hook

Stitches:

St ~ Stitch     Sl St ~ Slip Stitch     Sk ~ Skip     Ch ~ Chain     Sc ~ Single Crochet      Dc ~ Double Crochet    Cl ~ Cluster

Cluster Stitch: Yo, insert in designated stitch, draw up loop, yo, draw through 2 loops on hook, yo, insert hook in same st and draw up loop, yo, draw through 2 loops on hook, yo, draw through 3 loops on hook. (yo – yarn over)

Size:

46″ Around x 24″ Top to Bottom

Gauge: 

12 Dc x 6 Rows = 4″ x 4″


Instructions:

104 Foundation Sc –Click here for tutorial or ch 105, turn and sc in each ch = 104

Join with sl st to form ring.

Round 1:  Ch 1, * sc in st, ch 2, sk st, cl in next st, ch 2, sk st*, repeat *to* around. Join with sl st to beginning sc. = 26 clusters, 26 sc & 52 clusters

Round 2: Sl st in next 2 chs, sl st in top of next cluster st, ch 1, *sc in next cluster, ch 5*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to beginning sc. = 26 ch 5 & 25 sc

Round 3:  Sl st in next 2 ch’s , sc in same ch 5 sp, ch 2, *cl in next sc, ch 2, sc in center of next ch 5 sp, ch 2*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to beginning sc. = 26 clusters, 26 sc & 52 ch 2 sps

Round 4-44: Repeat rounds 2 & 3.

Finish off and weave in ends of yarn.
