Simple Squiggle Beanie… Free Crochet Pattern!!!

A super simple one stitch technique and self- striping yarn create this Simple Squiggle Beanie… Easy to make and fun to wear! One skein of Caron Cakes makes two beautiful beanies!!! This is a great beanie to give as a gift, you can make it in team colors, manly colors, colors for your favorite little one or your best friend… Of course, one for you too…

This fun, textural beanie has a rolled brim that happens naturally.. The pom pom is optional, and leaving it off shows off the fun swirl top!

Make sure to add this to your Ravelry queue and favorites for easy access! Click here….!

A simple one stitch pattern brings this Simple Squiggle Beanie to life with an unusual texture!

And a fun twist… The inside of the stitching looks simalar to knitting!

Materials:

Yarn ~ 190 yards of worsted weight yarn, 1 Caron Cake will make 2. I used the color Blueberry Kiwi.

Hook ~ K or hook to meet gauge

Yarn needle and scissors

Size:

20″ around un-stretched and 8 1/2″ top to bottom of rolled brim. This fits slightly snuggly. To adjust, you can add or subtract stitches and rows.

Gauge:

2″ x 2″ = 8 Fpsc x 8 rows

Stitches:

St – Stitch

Ch – Chain

Sl St – Slip Stitch

Fsc – Foundation Single Crochet

Fpsc – Front Post Single Crochet

Dec – Decrease(working 2 sts into one)

Instructions:

*Tip- Try to work with slightly loose tension.

Round 1: Make 80 Fsc (leaving 12″ tail), join with sl st being careful not to twist work.

Round 2-28: Ch 1, Fpsc around each st around. You will not be joining, just continue to work around for 28 rounds( this helps not leave a seam). = 80 Fpsc in each round.

Round 29: Ch 1, Fpsc around 80 sts, join with sl st(you will now join each round), = 80 Fpsc

Round 30: Ch 1, *Fpsc around the next 8 sts, Dec Fpsc*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to beginning Fpsc post. = 72 Fpsc

Round 31: Ch 1, *Fpsc around the next 7 sts, Dec Fpsc*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to beginning Fpsc post. = 64 Fpsc

Round 32: Ch 1, *Fpsc around the next 6 sts, Dec Fpsc*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to beginning Fpsc post. = 56 Fpsc

Round 33: Ch 1, *Fpsc around the next 5 sts, Dec Fpsc*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to beginning Fpsc post. = 48 Fpsc

Round 34: Ch 1, *Fpsc around the next 4 sts, Dec Fpsc*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to beginning Fpsc post. = 40 Fpsc

Round 35: Ch 1, *Fpsc around the next 3 sts, Dec Fpsc*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to beginning Fpsc post. = 32 Fpsc

Round 36: Ch 1, *Fpsc around the next 2 sts, Dec Fpsc*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to beginning Fpsc post. = 24 Fpsc

Round 37: Ch 1, *Fpsc around the next 1 sts, Dec Fpsc*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to beginning Fpsc post. = 16 Fpsc

Round 38: Ch 1, Dec Fpsc around, join with sl st to beginning Fpsc post. = 8 Fpsc

Finish off leaving 12 ” tail

With yarn needle, weave tail in and out of the last 8 sts of round 38 and draw closed. Secure and weave in end.

Working with beginning tail, use yarn needle to secure and finish off.

Make Pom Pom if desired and secure to top of beanie.

Congratulations, you now have a Simple Squiggle Beanie… I hope you love yours as much as I do!!!
