Welcome back to Week 4 of our 2020 Crochet with Me Mystery Winter CAL!!! At the end of this week you will be 33% completed with your project and well on your way to a beautiful afghan!

There are a few prizes involved in this years 2020 Winter Mystery Afghan CAL..

Grand Prize – There will be a $50 Amazon Gift Card for 1 lucky winner at the end of the CAL. The grand prize will be drawn on Saturday May 9th 2020. To be eligible, you must email a picture and permission by Friday May 8th, 2020 to [email protected] showing your completed project. Entries will be numbered by the order they arrive and the number will be drawn using a random number generator.

Here is my color line up… You can choose your colorway to be in any order you like… The way my eye liked my colors was from lightest to darkest… A~White B~Stone C~Sweet Pink D~Light Gray E~Cameo F~Pewter

Stitches:

  • St ~ Stitch
  • Sl St ~ Slip Stitch
  • Sk ~ Skip
  • Ch ~ Chain
  • Bl ~ Back Loop
  • Dec Sc ~ Decrease Single Crochet *Insert hook in next st, pull up loop, insert hook in next st, pull up loop, Yo and draw through all 3 loops on hook*
  • Sc ~ Single Crochet
  • Blsc ~ Back Loop Single Crochet
  • Dc ~ Double Crochet

Instructions:

**Each week you will be repeating the blsc row 3 several times(in the color indicated for the row repeat) … Here it is so you don’t have to go back to week 1…

Row 3: Ch 1, turn, dec blsc over the next 2 sts, blsc in next 8 sts, *3 blsc in next st, blsc in next 9 sts, sk 2 sts, blsc in next 9 sts*, repeat *to* 9 more times, 3 blsc in next st, blsc in next 8 sts, dec blsc over the last 2 sts. =231 blsc

Finish off with color F

Join Color A with sl st where you left off

*Tip… Watch your ch1’s and sk’s… They are different throughout the peak and valley

Row 59: Ch 3, turn, sk st, bldc in next 8 sts, *3 bldc(peak) in next st, bldc in next st, ch 1, sk 2 sts, 3 bldc in next st, ch 1, sk 3 sts, 3 bldc in next st, sk 4 sts(valley), 3 bldc in next st, ch 1, sk 3 sts, 3 bldc in next st, ch 1, sk 2 sts, bldc in next st*, repeat *to* 9 more times, 3 bldc in next st, bldc in next 8 sts, sk st, bldc in last st. = 40 ch 1 & 191 bldc

Row 60-61: Repeat row 3

Row 62-73: repeat rows 59-61 – 4 times

** The approx. length at the end of this week is 32″ laid flat not stretched

As you saw last week, this is a traditional chevron pattern and it has some twists and turns… During this CAL, hopefully you will learn some new stitches and/or advance your crochet ability!!

**Tip for row 55, Make sure to work in the ch and dc in the beginning and end of the previous row to get proper st count

** The approx. length at the end of this week is 23″ laid flat not stretched

Join me for my 5th annual Crochet with Me!! Mystery Afghan CAL…

If you love afghans and would like a fun way to make a beautiful treasure in 12 weeks, along with hundreds of other crocheter’s… This Crochet Along is for you… Over the last 5 years, we have made some great afghans.. Below you will see the 4 previous years examples…

Each week beginning January 28th, I will post an easy to do weekly homework section of the afghan.   As we work through the weeks you will end up with a beautiful afghan.  You can also join the Beatrice Ryan Designs CAL Group on Facebook to join the fun, post pics and get input from all of the group members!!

Materials:

Yarn ~ One color – 3000   ** Due to the different crochet tensions, you may want to increase your yarn yardage up to 3400-3600** of worsted weight yarn – Premier® Everyday Collection 15 Skeins (This afghan will be made in a solid theme this year!!)
