Eye of the Storm Afghan CAL… Week 2!

Eye of the Storm Afghan CAL… Week 2!

Welcome back to the Eye of the Storm Afghan CAL… We are now on Week 2! Anytime is a good time to join the fun!

CAL

My 2 squares this week are so fun and whimsical! I now have the pattern down and whipped right thru them. I am working ahead so you can see how the Crochet Along is turning out, if you are participating you should have one or two squares done depending on the size of your project!

Week 2 squares

Here are my first 2 weeks completed, I am making the large afghan with 24 squares… 4 across x 6 down. Each square is 12″ x 12″, so my approximate size will be 56″ x 80″ with the joining and border.

Here is the yarn colors I randomly drew this week…

This CAL is a nice pace and will finish mid November. There is no actual joining… just crochet when you can and hopefully you can make 1 or 2 Eye of the Storm Squares per week… If you missed the information post or week 1 post… You can find them below in the list of the CAL schedule or in the Crochet With Me tab at the top of the page. Week 1 has tons of CAL info, so make sure to take a look at that as well as the info post if you are thinking of joining the fun!

Here is a picture of all 4 squares for week 1 & 2

All 4 squares

Here is a brief bit of info about this Crochet Along ~

Each block is approximately 12″ x 12″. Then there is joining allowance and the border. The border will be approximately 6 total inches and joining is just a couple of extra inches.

I made a small card for each color(see my pics) and for each square I am randomly drawing 6 cards. I make the square in the order of how I pulled the card for A, B, C, D, E and F colors.

Now, Let’s talk prizes!!!

As mentioned before… Fun prizes are given away in the Facebook CAL Group throughout the CAL… But – There is a GRAND PRIZE at the end of the CAL for those who finish the blanket by the designated time! It’s a $50 Amazon Gift Card!!! Perfect timing for Christmas shopping! See all the rules below!

More about the weekly prize drawings and Grand Prize:

Grand Prize – There will be a $50 Amazon Gift Card for 1 lucky winner at the end of the CAL. The grand prize will be drawn on Wednesday November 11th 2026 . To be eligible, you must email a picture and permission by 11:59pm pst on Tuesday November 10th 2026 to [email protected] showing your completed project. Entries will be numbered by the order they arrive and the number will be drawn using a random number generator. The winner will be announced on November 14th 2026 in the final post!

Also, This square tends to be a bit wonky… It will need to be blocked to take shape…

I use the wet blocking method and they turn out great. I just get the squares wet in warm water, roll them flat in a towel to get most of the water out… Then I pin them on my blocking mats until dry!

If you need blocking mats, here s the link to what I use. I purchased these on Amazon… Click here to shop!

Making The 6 Day Star Blanket… Section 4!

Making The 6 Day Star Blanket… Section 4!

I’m Making The 6 Day Star Blanket! I now have completed the 9 set up rounds and the 3rd six round repeat and it is looking better than I could have imagined! I hope you may consider joining me and let’s make this together…

This is the 6 Day Star Blanket by Betty McKnit… I won’t finish in 6 days, to much life, gardening, other designs and spending time with friends and family. So, I decided to set a timer to see how long this will take! This section took 2 hour 20 mins…

That is a total of 7 hours 55 mins so far. I am sure as I get further along each 6 round section will take longer due to the increase in stitches!

I decided to use 7 colors of my stash to make this… 2 rounds of each color once I started the 6 round repeat…

So far… I love this!!! I did the 9 set up rounds and first 3 – 6 round repeats(27 rounds total) using an H hook. Starting this section, I switched to an I hook… She(Betty McKnit) recommends potentially sizing up your hook as the project gets bigger to avoid curling.

At the end of this section, it measures 41″ from point to point, last measurement was 33″. With a cute border this could almost be a baby blanket! 9 rounds of set up and 18 rounds of the continued repeats for a total of 27 rounds!!!

I would love if you join me over on my Beatrice Ryan Designs CAL Group and make this with me!!! Working at our own pace, I’m not trying to finish this project in 6 days…. Just a bit each day

If you would like to join me or make this in the future…. Here is the link for the 6 Day Star Blanket by Betty McKnit on Ravelry… Free or PDF purchase

Stay tuned for my 4th round of repeats!!! You can come back here or get the post links by email by using the “Stay Connected” in the righthand sidebar to get all my posts by email… Or like I said… Join my CAL Group to follow along or make this with me!!!
