This FREE Pattern uses basic crochet stitching! Some yarn and a hook is all you need to get started on the Fade to Green Poncho. The self-phasing yarn by Caron Cloud Cakes is soft as can be along with Caron Simply Soft Yarn to tie it all together! Color A -2 Caron Simply Soft Skeins in Army Green (315 Yards ea) = 630 total yds

Color B – 1 Caron Cloud Cake in Fir (720 Yards) = 720 total yds

G – Hook

  • St – Stitch
  • Ch – Chain
  • Sk – Skip
  • Sp – Space
  • Sc – Single Crochet
  • Hdc – Half Double Crochet
  • Dc – Double Crochet
  • Blsc – Back Loop Single Crochet
  • Fdsc – Foundation Single Crochet
  • V St – Dc, Ch 1, Dc all in the same St or Sp
  • PM – Place St Marker
  • FO – Finish Off

Instructions:

*You will PM in center st of each point, move marker each round to keep track of your center points

Color A

Round 1: 94 Fdsc, Join to form ring, being careful not to twist your stitch ring. (you can also ch 95, sc in 2nd ch from hook and each across) = 94 sc

Round 2: Ch 4(counts as dc + 1ch now and throughout), dc in same st, * sk 2 sts, Vst in next st*, repeat *to* 14 more times, 3dc in next st(pm in center st), Vst in next st, sk 2 sts, repeat *to* 15 more times, 3dc in next st(pm in center st), join with sl st in 3rd ch of beginning ch. = 32 Vsts & 6 dc

Round 3: Turn, Join Color B in ch sp of 1st V st to the left of 3dc group, ch 4, dc in same sp, *Vst in next Vst across to center st of ch 3 group(you should have a marker in this st), (Vst, dc, Vst) in st*, repeat *to* one more time, join with sl st in 3rd ch of beginning ch. = 36 Vsts & 2 dc

From deep purple to the light shades of lilac… This beautiful shawl is easy to make and fun to wear!!!  Simple stitching and decreases make this shawl a crescent triangle shape… It easily wraps over the shoulders for a comfortable fit!!

Using Red Heart Super Saver Ombre in  Violet, this yarn does all the work for you..!

Materials:

Yarn – 850 yards of worsted weight yarn. This pattern took almost 2 full skeins of Red Heart Super Saver Ombre Yarn to complete the project.

Hook – J

Stitches:

St ~ Stitch     Ch ~ Chain     Sk ~ Skip     Sp ~ Space     Bl ~ Back Loop     Fl ~ Front Loop     Sl St ~ Slip Stitch     Sc ~ Single Crochet     Hdc ~ Half Double Crochet     Dc ~ Double Crochet     Trc ~ Treble Crochet     Fnd Hdc ~ Foundation Half Double Crochet     Dec Sc ~ Decrease Single Crochet

Even rows are the right side


Instructions:

Row 1:  Ch 3, Fnd hdc in 3rd ch from hook, 99 Fnd Hdc. = 100 Fnd hdc

Row 2:  Ch 1, turn, Bl sc in next 98 st, dec sc over the last 2 sts. = 99 sts

Row 3:  Turn, sl st in first 2 sts, ch 4(counts as trc now and throughout), trc in each st across. = 98 trc

Row 4:  Ch 1, turn, sc across to the last 2 sts, dec sc over the last 2 sts. = 97 sc

Row 5:  Turn, sl st in 1st st, fl sl st in next st, ch 2(counts as hdc now and throughout), fl hdc in each st across. = 96 sts

Row 6: Ch 1 turn, sc across to the last 2 sts, dec sc over the last 2 sts. = 95 sc

Row 7-98:  Repeat rows 3-6, continue decreasing each row until having 3 sts at the end of row 90.

Row 99:  Sl st in first 2 sts, ch 2, hdc in last st. = 2 sts

Row 100: Ch 1, turn, dec sc over 2 sts. = 1 st

Finish off

Border:

With RS facing join yarn in beginning fnd hdc

Row 1:  Ch 1, sc in first st and next 98 sts,  3 sc in stitch at tip, sc 172 evenly down side of rows to next end tip of shawl, (sc, ch1, sc) in  tip of shawl, sc 168 evenly down side of rows, 2 sc in same as beginning sc, join with sl st to beginning. = 446 sc & 1 (sc,ch1,sc)

Row 2:  Turn, sl st in 1st st(this is the middle of the corner st), ch 1, (sc,ch1,sc) in same st, *sc in next 8 sts, dec sc over the next 2 sts*, repeat *to*16 more times, (sc,ch1,sc) in ch 1 sp(2nd corner), ^sk 2 sts, 5 dc shell in next st, sk 2 sts, sc in next st^, repeat ^to^ 28 more times, (sc,ch1,sc) in next st(3rd corner), sc in next st, sk st, 5 dc shell in next st, repeat ^to^ 14 more times, sk st, sc in last st, join with sl st to beginning sc. = 46 5dc shells, 3(sc,ch1,sc) & 201 sc

Row 3:  sl st in ch 1 sp of corner, ch 4, turn, 5 trc in same sp, *sc in next sc, 2 trc in each of the next 5 dc sts*, repeat *to* 16 more times, sc in next st, sk sc, 11 trc in next ch 1 sp, sc st, repeat *to* 29 times, sc in next sc, 6 trc in last ch 1 sp. (do not work across sc edge). = 483 trc

Row 4:  Ch 1, turn, (sc,ch1,sc) in each dc st, sl st in each sc st, repeat across.

Finish off.

Weave in ends.

Block Shawl – When blocking the shell edging. slightly fold one over the other and block into place. The shell edging is wide enough and will have a wavy ripple effect if not blocked flat to have a nice accordion look.
