Holiday Weekend Crochet…

.

This weekend was a little quieter than most… I had the house to myself for the majority of Saturday and Sunday… So, how would I spend it… Crocheting of course (and some gardening)!  I couldn’t wait to dig in to some new projects…

.

My crochet work will be  featured at Alpine Originals for June’s Artwalk the fourth Friday of June…  So, I am building up a large variety of crochet items for everyone to enjoy.  I’m hoping to show crochet as more than just Afghans and Doilies… Over the next month I will be showing it off here too!  I will also be making my “Annual” Flag Rugs and Flag Potholders… They are always popular and each year I make one Flag Rug to sell… This year I may make two being that I am featured right before The Fourth of July…  Stay tuned for pictures of these Rugs…

.

Here is what I whipped up this weekend…  Whew!

This cute hat is based on Karla Rae’s pattern for her Big Girl Bonnet on Ravelry. I made a few changes to the bill and used a smaller hook than recommended… Great pattern!

These Spiral Potholders are adapted from Barbara Langer’s Spiral Coaster/Potholder Pattern on Ravelry. I loosely followed her pattern and made several changes to get them just how I wanted them to turn out!  Another great Ravelry pattern!

This is a great pattern by Lily/Sugar’n Cream for Mobile Phone Covers… My phone would love to sit in one of these… I closely followed their pattern,,, with only a few small adjustments…

.

I just love Ravelry… If you haven’t found it yet, check it out… It is the best Crochet  Site for all levels of crocheters!

.

Well, 14 more items on their way to Alpine Originals… Wow, that was a lot of crocheting this weekend!

.

So here is to Ravelry, Artwalks and Crocheting!

Another Day,,, Another Basket…

.

Although yesterday was one of those crazy days in a woman’s life,,, I still had time to whip up another great Door Hanger Basket!  Like most crocheter’s… This is how I unwind in the evening… The feel of the soft fiber and my favorite wooden hook,,, a little counting(for those of you who are a little OCD, you get this!) and a project coming together… A great way to end a busy day…

.

This is how a crazy day goes… Up and out to work… Post on blog, Phone calls, Faxes and Emails on my break to my 2nd job… Arrange appointments for my daughter… Run home at lunch to take care of animals and leave money for daughters appointment… Back to work… Daughter forgets money for appointment,,, Get off work at 5 and run money to her,,, To grocery store for supplies for high school sports awards potluck…  Make a delicious Strawberry Rhubarb Crumble (Recipe from At Home With Sara), I added Strawberries upon my daughters request…, Go to Potluck,,,  Back home to start cleaning the kitchen from the mess I made  earlier… Make a few phone calls and emails,,, Load of laundry,,, Chat with a friend for a few minutes and finally time to crochet… AHHH! … I’m sure I missed a few details,,, but you get the idea… I’m sure I am not alone in these types of days…

Medium Size Door Hanger Basket…

.

These are great baskets and easy to make… you can find the pattern on Ravelry by Summer Brodbeck or on her blog at The Crochet Diaries…  I used her theory, but changed it up count wise to make it larger, made the loop larger and used a reverse crochet to edge it… Give it a try,,, I’m sure you will love it!

.

I get to have my precious granddaughter for a sleepover tonight… So not sure if any crochet is in the plan,,, but lots of fun is!

.

So here is to Crazy Day’s, Strawberry Rhubarb Crumble, Door Hanger Baskets and Granddaughters…

Spirals and Baskets…

.

I’m kicking off my summer stock up of crochet to sell with a bang.  With Memorial Day Weekend sneaking up quickly and my Ocean Waves Afghan completed, I am beginning to stock up and crochet as much as possible to have plenty to sell at Alpine Originals.  It is a true blessing to have an outlet to sell my items and the extra money will come in handy for our Annual Mother/daughter School Clothes and Mini Vacation  trip late summer!

.

My head was full of ideas and things I wanted to make, so here is what I made last night…

Spiral Dishcloths….

.

These adorable baskets are just the right size  for storing the little things you need as you’re rushing out the door… I was inspired by several pattern I found online and each one took only 45 minutes to whip up using 2 strands of worsted weight yarn and an I hook!

.

The spiral dish cloths are much cuter in person and were originally inspired by a pot holder pattern, but once I got going I thought they would make a unique dishcloth!  They were a little more work but only about 1 hour and done… These are made of cotton using a G Hook…

twine basket

Floral Face Cloths and a Sweet Twine Basket…. Thanks to Carlee at Alpine Originals for this cute picture!

.

I added a few more Floral Face Cloths in Spring Green and Cream and a great Twine Basket with a Spring Green trim…  I made these last week and forgot to show them off : )

.

Lots more on the way to share, and a couple new free patterns on the way!

.

So here is to Baskets, Spirals and Summer Crochet!
