Today I want to talk about a really amazing crochet book!!!  Design Your Own Crochet Projects by Sara Delaney is one of the most detailed books for learning all the in’s and out’s of crochet I have come across!  Starting with the details of yarn, swatches, and guides to creating every kind of project – Including how to measure and make it fit!…

Now you can make hats, scarves, mittens, gloves, socks and slippers to customize your size…  This 250 page book includes 18 patterns with tons of detail of how to make  Sara’s patterns fit you too!.  I am so excited about the sock section, I can hardly wait to try her methods!!!! With winter in the air here… the gloves look really fun to make too!!!

Sara also has a great stitch dictionary with pictures and over 31 stitch techniques.  There is a great stitch abbreviation and definition section too!  This is a very beautiful book and clear written.. I know all of you would love to have this in your crochet library…

Sara also has a Crochet Calculator Webpage… This tool is so awesome!  You can click on the type of project… then you enter the info like the length, width, stitch pattern and so forth.. then it hit calculate…  It then tells you how much yarn you need… how many total stitches and rows… FABULOUS!!!!!  Click Here to head over to her Crochet Calculator!!

Scrap Buster Scrapghan  CAL Week 4

 

You made it.. We are finishing off our Scrapghans this week just in time to use them for the colder weather…!  I love mine.. it is heavy and plush!  I used a large part of my stash, but I could at least make one more and probably have more yarn left…lol

Make sure you post your final pictures in the Beatrice Ryan Designs CAL Group for all of us to see!!

Lets finish this up!!

Instructions:

Rows 44-63: Change 1 color out, Chain 3, turn, *sk st, V st in center of previous rows V st*, repeat *to* across to end, dc in last st. = 41 Vsts and 2 dc.

Change all 3 strands to your base color,

Row 64:  Ch 1, turn, sc in first 2 sts, 3 dc in next st, *sc in next 3 sts, 3 dc in next st*, repeat *to* 19 more times, 2 sc in last st. = 64 sc & 20 3dc

Finish off

Rotate Scrapghan to the bottom and join yarn in 1st st.

Row 65: Ch 1, turn, sc in first 2 sts, 3 dc in next st, *sc in next 3 sts, 3 dc in next st*, repeat *to* 19 more times, 2 sc in last 2 st. = 64 sc & 20 3dc

** You will notice you had 2 sc in the last st of  row 64 and sc in last 2 sts of row 65, this is because of the beginning row and having to sk sts we had 1 less stitch in row 64 when we finished. If for some reason your count is off you can just make the adjustment to make it work for you.

We are really whipping through our stash!!!  Somehow my stash looks like it is growing instead of shrinking… I  may need to make another Scrapghan!!  I hope you have enjoyed it so far… Only one more week to go after this weeks section is completed~~

Instructions~

Rows 24- 42:  Change 1 color out, Chain 3, turn, *sk st, V st in center of previous rows V st*, repeat *to* across to end, dc in last st. = 41 Vsts and 2 dc.

Row 43:  Change out the 2 alternate colors to your base color, you now will have 3 strands of the base color.  Chain 4(counts as trc now and throughout), turn,  *Sk st, trc in next st, trc in st just skipped to create the X stitch*, Repeat *to * across, trc in last st. = 41 X stem 2 trc
