Crochet with Me!! Crochet-A-Long… Week 8

Crochet with Me!! Crochet-A-Long… Week 8

Welcome back to our Crochet with Me!! Crochet-A-Long…  As we finish up this weeks assignment,  we will be 3/4 of the way done with our project… Can you believe it??  I am really loving my afghan and each week I am enjoying the process of  the few hours it takes to complete!!  I hope you are loving it too!!

Crochet with Me week 8

For our weekly housekeeping I will address a question I had this week….  Some of us have wondered about  the yardage and needed to buy yarn to continue.  Some people are making this scrappy, others are doing monochrome or 2 color,,, The rest of us are doing the 3 color.  As listed in the original directions, We will be very close to the estimated amount I stated in the directions…. I purchased 3 skeins each of my Boysenberry and Peacock and at the end of week 8 I have used 2 of each and will have to start with my 3rd skeins for week 9, I will have plenty of each to finish the project… For my Eggshell which is my main color, I originally purchased 5 skeins and at the end of week 8~ I am in my 3rd skein.  I will need my 4th skein for sure and think I will have to go into my 5th skein by the end… I hope that helps with any questions about yarn!!

This week we are back to a quick work up of the rows… The last couple of weeks our shells and chains were a lot of work and many people are still catching up!  So I think you will all be happy to have an easy week!!

Lets get started!!

Crochet with Me!! Winter 2016 Crochet-A-Long… Week 6!!

Crochet with Me!! Winter 2016 Crochet-A-Long… Week 6!!

Welcome to week 6 of our Crochet with Me!! Crochet-A-Long… The afghans are looking so beautiful and I have loved seeing all of them around on social media!!  At the end of this week your project will be halfway completed… So exciting!!

Crochet with Me!! Week 6 2016

This week we will be repeating our chains and shells section to start the center part of our project…  I know some of us have had this type of stitching seem to be tighter than the other stitching techniques… So, because this will be a large area you may want to switch up to one size larger hook or just work hard at keeping your tension on the looser side!!  I know at the end of the afghan… you will love how this looks!!

Our bit of weekly housekeeping…  For those who have missed the chats about length and width… We will be adding 3″ to each side of the afghan in the last sections and then an over-all border.. I am shooting to end up with the afghan being 65″-66″ wide and 75″- 80″ long…  You will be able to add to the width a bit at the side sections if desired and/or the width and length during the edging.  We will also be blocking this project to get the stitching to relax and become even…

Let’s get started!!

Instructions:

*Tip~ Since changing colors can be confusing, your shells are always worked on the right side of the project(this is where your textural stitching shows)

Change to Color “A”

Row 71:  Ch 1, turn, sc in the 1st 2 sts, ch 2, skip 2 sts, sc in the next st, *ch 5, sk 5 sts, sc in the next st*, Repeat * * across to the last 3 sts, ch 2, sk 2 sts, sc int he last st. = 24 ch5 spaces, 2 ch2 spaces and 28 sc. (you will be skipping over the shells with the chain and sc in the sc spaces)

Change to Color “C”

Row 72:  Ch 1, turn, sc in the 1st st, *5dc shell in the  next sc (skipping the chain), sc around the chain into the 3rd dc of the previous rows shell *, Repeat * * Across, sc in the last 2 sts. = 25 shells, 27 sc

Rows 75-98: Repeat rows 71-74 (6) more times.

Change to Color “A”

Row 99:  Ch 1, turn, sc in the 1st 2 sts, ch 2, skip 2 sts, sc in the next st, *ch 5, sk 5 sts, sc in the next st*, Repeat * * across to the last 3 sts, ch 2, sk 2 sts, sc int he last st. = 24 ch5 spaces, 2 ch2 spaces and 28 sc.
