My Favorite Cat Blanket! Easy, Free Crochet Pattern!!!



My Favorite Cat Blanket… Easy, Free Crochet Pattern… So fun to make and accessorize with! Also, this is a great gift idea! You can do it in any color scheme or use your stash!!! My daughter swooped this up for her home!

Surprisingly so easy with a 3 row repeat (actually 2 rows, one you repeat twice!). Once you get the first few rows complete, it is a great tv watching project!

Materials:

Yarn ~

Lion Brand Pound of Love – 3 skeins (1020 yds each): Color A – Cinnabar Color B – Quartz Color C – White

Hook ~

H hook


Using 2 or more colors makes the cat design pop!

Tips:

  • It is super easy, there are only a few ends to weave in for this project.
  • Use two or more contrasting colors to get the best effect.
  • You can choose any color scheme to make it your own.
  • After the first 2 rows, each color is used for 3 row repeating
  • I carry my yarn up the sides instead of finishing off and work over it when doing the edging

Size ~

46″ x 60′ – This can vary due to personal tension or yarn differences

Stitches ~

  • Ch – Chain
  • St – Stitch
  • Sl St – Slip Stitch
  • Sk – Skip
  • Sc – Single Crochet
  • Hdc – Half Double Crochet
  • Dc – Double Crochet
  • YO – Yarn Over
  • DS Cl – Drop Stitch Cluster: Yo, insert hook 2 rows below between (2dc, ch1, 2dc)’s encapsulating both rows, pull up loop, yo, draw up loop in same space, yo, draw through all 5 loops on hook. Keep your loops you pull up to the same height as the row you are working on. See Picture below

Color A

Ch 155

Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook(counts as 2 dc), * sk 3 chs, (2 dc in next ch, ch 1, 2 dc in next ch)*, repeat *to* 28 times, sk 3 chs, dc in last 2 chs. = 29 (2 dc, ch1, 2 dc) & 4 dc

Row 2: Ch 3(counts as dc now and throughout), turn, dc in next st, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next ch 1 sp*, repeat *to* across, dc in last 2 sts. = 29 (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) & 4 dc

Drop color A and Pick up color B

Row 3: Ch 3, turn, dc in next st, * ds cl 2 rows in sp 2 rows below (between last rows)see pic above), (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next ch 1 sp*, repeat *to* 28 more times, ds cl in next sp 2 rows below, dc in last 2 sts. = 29 (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc), 30 ds cl & 4 dc

Rows 4 & 5: Repeat row 2 in same color

Drop color B and Pick up color C

Row 6: repeat row 3

Row 7 & 8: Repeat row 2 in same color

Drop color C and Pick up color A

Rows 9-98: For each color you will do 3 rows (row 3 once, and row 2 twice).

You will end with color C

Row 99: Ch 1, turn, sc in next 2 sts, *(ds cl in next sp 2 rows below, 4 sc in next ch 1 sp*, repeat *to* 28 more times, ds cl 2 rows below in sp, sc in next st, 3 sc in next st(corner), evenly sc 164 sts down row edges, 3 sc in next st of bottom row(corner), evenly sc 148 sts across bottom row until you are to the last st of that row, 3 sc in next st(this is the 1st ch of starting ch row 1)(3rd corner), evenly sc 164 sts up side rows, 2 sc in same st as 1st st of row 99. = 636 sc

Row 100: Ch 2(counts as hdc), turn, 3 hdc in next st, hdc in next 166 sts, 3 hdc in next st, hdc in next 150 sts, 3 hdc in next st, hdc in next 166 sts, 3 hdc in next st, hdc in next 149 sts, join with sl st to beginning ch 2. = 644 hdc

Finish off, Turn and join color B in top Right Hand Corner St.

Row 101: Ch 2, 2 hdc in same st, hdc in next 152 sts, 3 hdc in next st, hdc in next 168 sts, 3 hdc in next st, hdc in next 152 sts, 3 hdc in next st, hdc in last 168 sts, join with sl st to beginning ch 2. = 652 hdc

Finish off, Turn and join color A in top Right Hand Corner St.

Row 102: Ch 2, 2 hdc in same st, hdc in next 154 sts, 3 hdc in next st, hdc in next 170 sts, 3 hdc in next st, hdc in next 154 sts, 3 hdc in next st, hdc in last 170 sts, join with sl st to beginning ch 2. = 660 hdc

Row 103: Ch 1, turn, loosely *sl st across to corner st, (sl st, ch 1, sl st) in corner st*, repeat *to* around, join to beginning sl st.

Finish off

Are you ready for another fun, easy crochet square pattern ?? Here you go!!!  This is a 12″ square using worsted weight yarn. It can easily be made in one sitting!!

Using this 12″ Square you can make many sizes of beautiful afghans by making several blocks and crocheting them together, Or…  This Ziggidy Zag Summer Square along with my Rainbow Burst Reversible Square and my Festival of Fall Square are all made to work together to make a fun sampler afghan if you want to spice it up!


Materials:

Worsted weight yarn – 2 to 9 colors. 50 – 75 yards total.  I used Vanna’s Choice Yarn

Colors in order

A: Kelly Green    B: Mustard   C: Cranberry   D: Fern   E: Terra Cotta   F: Aqua

 

Hook- Size J

Stitches:

St – Stitch     Sp – Space     Ch – Chain    Sl St – Slip Stitch     Sc – Single Crochet     Dc – Double Crochet     Trc – Treble Crochet     Dec – Decrease (insert hook in st, yo and pull up loop, insert hook in next st, yo and pull up loop, yo, pull yarn thru all 3 loops on hook)

Special Stitches:  

V Stitch – 2 dc in one stitch

Puff Stitch ~ Yo, insert hook in sp, pull up loop, yo, insert hook in same sp, pull up loop, yo, draw yarn through all 5 loops on hook.

Decorative Stitch (sc,trc,sc) in one st. When making this st, make sure to pop the trc to the front of the square. This will make a nice decorative stitch.

Size:

12″ x 12″

Instructions:

Using Color A

Begin with a Magic Circle(video tutorial by Moogly)

Round 1:  Ch 1, *puff st, ch 1*, repeat * * 8 times. Join with sl st to beginning puff st. Finish off. = 8 puff sts & 8 ch1 sps

Color B

Round 2:  Join yarn with sl st in any ch1 sp, ch 3(counts as dc), (dc, ch-1, 2 dc) in same sp, *(2dc, ch-1, 2dc) in next ch-1 sp*, Repeat * to* around. Join with sl st to beginning of ch-3. Finish off. = 32 dc & 8 ch-1 sps

Color C

Round  3:  Join yarn in any ch-1 sp, ch 4(counts as trc), 8 trc in same sp, *(dc, ch 1, dc) in next ch-1 sp, 9 trc in next ch-1 sp*, repeat *to * 2 more times, (dc, ch 1 dc)  in last ch1 sp. Join with sl st to top of beginning ch-3. Finish off. =36 trc and 4-(dc,ch-1,dc)

Color D

Round 4:  Join with sl st in the 5th st of any corner (middle st of corner ) from row 3, ch 4, 6 more trc in same st, *sk st, V st in next st*, repeat *to* one more time, sk st, V st in ch 1 sp, repeat *to* 2 times, sk st, {7 trc in next st, repeat *to* 2 times, sk st, V st in ch 1 sp, repeat *to* 2 times,  sk st}, repeat {to} 2 more times, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 4. = 4- 7 trc and 20 V sts

Color E

Round 5:  Join with sl st in 4th st of any corner (middle of corner st) from previous round, ch 3, 6 more dc in same st, * sk 2 sts, V st in next st, V st in center of next 5 V sts, sk st, V st in next st, sk 2 sts*, {7 dc in next st, repeat *to* one time}, Repeat {to} 2 more times, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. = 28 V sts and 4- 7 dc

Color F

Round 6:   Join with sl st in 4th st of any corner (middle st of corner ) from previous round, ch 3, 6 more dc in same st, * sk 2 sts, V st in next st, V st in center of next 7 V sts, sk st, V st in next st, sk 2 sts*, {7 dc in next st, repeat *to* one time}, Repeat {to} 2 more times, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. = 36 V sts and 4 – 7 dc

Color A

Round 7:   Join with sl st in 4th st of any corner (middle st of corner ) from previous round, ch 3, 6 more dc in same st, * sk 2 sts, V st in next st, V st in center of next 9 V sts, sk st, V st in next st, sk 2 sts*, {7 dc in next st, repeat *to* one time}, Repeat {to} 2 more times, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. = 44 V sts and 4 – 7 dc

Color B

Round 8:   Join with sl st in 4th st of any corner (middle st of corner ) from previous round, ch 3, 6 more dc in same st, * sk 2 sts, V st in next st, V st in center of next 11 V sts, sk st, V st in next st, sk 2 sts*, {7 dc in next st, repeat *to* one time}, Repeat {to} 2 more times, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. = 52 V sts and 4 – 7 dc

Color C

Round 9:  Join with sl st to 4th st of any corner(middle st of corner) from previous round, ch 1, 3 sc in same st, *sc in next 3 sts, (sc,trc,sc) in the center of each of the next 13 V sts, sk st, sc in next 3 sts, 3 sc in next st*, Repeat *to* 2 more times, sc in the next 3 sts, (sc,trc,sc) in the center of each of the next 13 V sts, sc in the last 3 sts, join with sl st to the beginning sc. = 52 (sc,trc,sc) and 36 sc  *you will continue to use Color C*

Round 10:  Ch 1, sc in same st, {3sc in next st, sc in the next 4 sts, *dec over next 2 sts, sc in next st*, repeat *to* 12 more times, sc in next 4 sts}, Repeat {to} 2 more times, 3 sc in next st, sc in next 4 sts, repeat *to* 13 times, sc in last 3 sts, join with sl st to beginning sc. = 148 sts

Weave in ends

That’s it… You now have a Ziggidy Zag Summer Square!!!

Simple, yet classy… These Denim Diva Boot Cuff’s work up in just a couple of hours!!  Only one skein for this crochet project and a little bit of sock yarn to dress them up!!  You can where them with your favorite Boots and Denim Jeans or a comfy pair of Leggings!

Perfect for any season!  Great for gifts or to keep for yourself, and with a cute touch of some fun buttons… You are all set!!


Materials:

Yarn ~ 160 yards of worsted weight yarn for the boot cuff and a few yards of sock weight yarn for the lacy top.

I used Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice worsted weight yarn in Colonial Blue and Lion Brand Sock Ease in Marshmallow sock weight yarn for the lace…

Hook ~ K or hook to meet gauge for cuff and G for lace edge

4 Buttons

Scissors and a Yarn Needle

Stitch marker


Size:

8″ tall x 13″ around

Gauge:

4″ x 4″ = 12 dc x 6 rows

Stitches:

St ~ Stitch     Sk ~ Skip     Sl St ~ Slip Stitch     Sc ~ Single Crochet     Hdc ~ Half Double Crochet     Dc ~ Double Crochet      Fpdc ~ Front Post Double Crochet

Special Stitch:

Fpcl ~ Front Post Cluster

Yo, insert hook around post of designated st, draw up loop, yo, draw through 2 loops, *yo, insert hook around same post, draw up loop, yo, draw through 2 loops*, repeat *to* once more, yo, draw through all 4 loops.

*Tips*

Ch 2 at the beginning of the round will count as a hdc unless otherwise noted

Ch 3 at the beginning of the round will count as a dc unless otherwise noted

You will be working in the round

In Round 3, the marker will help you see where the next stitch goes after the fpdc. Move it each time if needed


Instructions:

*Leave 3″ tail for securing bottom edge*

Round 1.  33 Foundation Hdc (Video Tutorial), Join with sl st to 1st st, secure bottom edge with tail. = 33 Foundation hdc

Round 2.  Ch 3, dc in next st, fpdc in next st, *dc in next 2 sts, fpdc in next st*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to top of ch 3. = 11 fpdc & 22 dc

Round 3.  Ch 3, dc in next st, (place marker in next st so the st is easily seen), fpcl around next st, *dc in next 2 sts, fpcl around next st*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to top of ch 3. =11 fpcl & 22 dc

Round 4.  Ch 3, dc in next st, fpdc around top of fpcl, *dc in next 2 sts, fpdc around top of next fpcl*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to top of ch 3. =11 fpdc & 22 dc

Rounds 5-11:  Ch 3, dc in next st, fpdc around next st, *dc in next 2 sts, fpdc around next st*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to top of ch 3. = 11 fpdc & 22 dc

Round 12:  Ch 2, hdc around, join with sl st to top of ch 2. = 33 hdc

Rounds 13-16: Ch 1, sc around, join with sl st to 1st sc. = 33 sc

Finish off and weave in ends.

Top Edging

Change to sock weight yarn and G hook

Join yarn with sl st to in any st of the bottom of round 1, this will be the top of your boot cuff.

Round 1:  Ch 1, 2 sc in each st around, join with sl st to 1st sc. = 66 sc

Round 2:  Ch 1, sc in 1st st, sk 2 sts, 5 dc in next st(shell made), sk 2 sts, *sc in next st, sk 2 sts, 5 dc in next st, sk 2 sts*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to 1st sc. = 11 sc & 11 5dc shells.

Round 3:  Sl st in next st, ch 1, (sc,ch1,sc) in same st, (sc,ch1,sc) in next 4 sts, *sl st in next sc, (sc,ch1,sc) in next 5 sts*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to 1st sc.

Finish off

Weave in ends

Attach buttons
