Suzie & Sammy Snakes

Suzie & Sammy Snakes – New Free Crochet Pattern! These fun, plush, extra large snakes are easy to make! Each Suzy or Sammy Snuggly Snake each take only 1 day, 1 skein and basic single crochet stitching!

In addition, Suzie & Sammy Snakes each measure 70″ long x 9″ around. Perfect snuggly plush for your family!

Using Bernat Ethereal Stripes Blanket Yarn, these snakes work up quickly and are super soft!

Materials:

Yarn – Bernat Ethereal Stripes Blanket Yarn #6 Super Bulky – 220 yards(one skein per snake) Suzie used the Color Sunrise and Sammy used the Color Lagoon

Hook – K

Safety Eyes or Crochet Your Own

Fiber Fill

Scissors

Stitch Markers

To purchase supplies you can find the yarn on Amazon, Target or Yarnspirations. Prices vary so shop around!

Stitches:

  • St – Stitch
  • Sl St – Slip Stitch
  • Ch – Chain
  • Sc – Single Crochet
  • Dec – Decrease – Work a sc over 2 stitches
  • Inc – Increase – Work 2 sc in 1 stitch

Tips:

Place marker in first stitch each time you start a new round. This will help identify where to join.

Place stuffing in snake every few inches to keep it even and easy to do.

Add eyes when the head is complete.

You won’t be turning at the end of the rounds and you will not be joining after round 16, just continuously working in the round.

Instructions:

Ch 2

Round 1: 4 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join with sl st to 1st sc. = 4 sc

Round 2: Ch 1, sc in 1st st, 2 sc in next st, sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, join with sl st. = 6 sc

Round 3: Ch 1, sc in 1st st, 2 sc in next 2 sts, sc in next st, 2 sc in next 2 sts, join with sl st. = 10 sc

Round 4: Ch 1, 2 sc in 1st, sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in next 4 sts, join with sl st. = 12 sc

Round 5: Ch 1, sc in 1st 5 sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st, join with sl st. = 14 sc

Round 6: Ch 1, sc in 1st 6 st, 2 sc in next st, sc in next 6 sts, 2 sc in next st, join with sl st. = 16 sc

Rounds 7-9: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st. = 16 sc

Round 10: Ch 1, dec, sc in next 6 sts, dec, sc in next 6 sts, join with sl st. = 14 sc

Round 11: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st. = 14sc

Round 12: Ch 1, sc in 1st 5 sts, dec, sc in next 5 sts, dec, join with sl st. = 12 sc

Attach Eyes Now in your desired area on the head

Round 13: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st. = 12 sc

Stuff The Head Now – Fairly firmly

Round 14: Ch 1, inc in 1st st, sc in next 5 sts, inc, sc in next 5 sts, join with sl st. = 14 sc

Round 15: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st. = 14 sc

Round 16: Ch 1, inc in 1st st, sc in next 6 sts, inc, sc in next 6 sts, join with sl st. = 16 sc

No more joining at this point, you will work in continuous stitching

Rounds 17 & 18: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join with sl st. = 16 sc

Round 19: Ch 1, sc in 1st 2 sts, inc, sc in next 7 sts, inc, sc in next 5 sts. = 18sc

Rounds 20 and beyond: Sc in each st around with no joining until your snake measures approx. 62″ from the nose to the end.

Decrease Rounds * You still won’t be joining

Round 1: Dec, sc in next 7 sts, dec, sc in next 7 sts. =16 sc

Round 2: Sc in next 16 sts. = 16 sc

Round 3: Dec, sc in next 6 sts, dec, sc in next 6 sts. =14 sc

Round 4: Sc in next 14 sts. = 14 sc

Round 5: Dec, sc in next 5 sts, dec, sc in next 5 sts. =12 sc

Round 6: Sc in next 12 sts. = 12 sc

Round 7: Dec, sc in next 4 sts, dec, sc in next 4 sts. =10sc

Round 8: Sc in next 10 sts. = 10 sc

Round 9: Dec, sc in next 3 sts, dec, sc in next 3 sts. =8 sc

Round 10: Sc in next 8 sts. = 8 sts

Round 11: Dec, sc in next 2 sts, dec, sc in next 2 sts. = 6 sc

Round 12: Sc in next 6 sts. = 6 sc

Round 13: Dec, sc in next st, dec, sc in next st. = 4 sc

Round 14: Dec 2 times. = 2 sc

Round 15: Sl St the last 2 sts together

Finish off, Weave ends in

Soft and Chic Beanie… Free Crochet Pattern!!

Size: 

Band ~ 20″ un-stretched Hat height ~ 9″


Materials: 

Yarn ~ 155 yds of #5 bulky yarn, Patons Alpaca Blend in Smoke pictured above.

Hook~ H hook

Optional ~ Pompom


Stitches:

  • St – Stitch
  • Sl St Slip Stitch
  • Ch – Chain
  • Sk – Skip
  • Dec – Decrease
  • Sc – Single Crochet
  • Hdc – Half Double Crochet
  • Dc – Double Crochet
  • Fphdc – Front Post Half Double Crochet
  • *X-St – Sk St, Dc in next St, Dc in previously Sk St

Instructions: 

Band:

Row 1: Ch 7, fphdc in 2nd ch from hook and each across. = 6 fphdc

Row 2-54: Ch 2(counts as hdc), turn, fphdc across. = 6 fphdc

Sl st ends of row 1 & 54 together to form band

Hat:

Round 1: Join yarn with a sl st in side of row of band. Ch 1, Sc 54 evenly around band.

Round 2: Ch 3(counts as dc now and throughout), Xst over next 2 sts, *Dc in next st, Xst over next 2 sts*, Repeat *to* around, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. = 18 Xsts & 18 dc

Round 3 & 4: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st around, join with sl st to beginning sc. = 54 sc

Round 5: Ch 3, turn, Xst over next 2 sts, *Dc in next st, Xst over next 2 sts*, Repeat *to* around, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. = 18 Xsts & 18 dc

Round 6 & 7: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st around, join with sl st to beginning sc. = 54 sc

Round 8: Repeat round 5

Round 9 and 10: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st around, join with sl st to beginning sc. = 54 scR

Round 11: Repeat round 5

Rounds 12: Ch 1, turn, *sc in next 7 sts, sc dec*, repeat *to* around. = 48 sc

Round 13: Ch 1, turn, sc around, join with sl st to beginning. = 48 sc

Round 14: Repeat round 5. = 16 x sts & 16 Dc

Round 15: Ch 1, turn, *sc in next 6 sts, sc dec*, repeat *to* around. =42 sc

Round 16: Ch 1, turn, *sc in next 5 sts, sc dec*, repeat *to* around. =36

Round 17: Repeat round 5. = 12 Xsts & 12 Dc

Round 18: Ch 1, turn, *sc in next 4 sts, sc dec*, repeat *to* around. =18 sc

Round 19: Ch 1, turn, *sc in next 3 sts, sc dec*, repeat *to* around. =12 sc

Finish off leaving a 6″ tail

Using a yarn needle, weave the tail through the 12 sc and draw closed. Secure and weave in end.

Optional: Add pom pom to top

That’s it… You now have a Soft & Chic Beanie!!

Round 2 & 3:  Ch 1, turn, sc in each st around, join with sl st to beginning sc. = 142 sc

Round 4:  Ch 1, turn, sc in 1st st, bs in next st, *sc in next st, bs in next st*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to beginning sc. = 71 sc & 71 bs

Round 5:  Ch 1, turn, sc in each st around, join with sl st to beginning st. = 142 sc

Round 6:  Ch 1, turn, bs in 1st st, sc in next st, *bs in next st, sc in next st*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to beginning st. (your bs should be offset from the bs’s in round 4) = 71 bs & 71 sc

Round 7: Repeat round 5

Round 8:  Repeat round 4

Round 9:  Repeat round 5

Round 10:  Repeat round 6

Rounds 11-13:  Repeat round 5

Rounds 14-23: Repeat rounds 4-13

Round 24:  Ch 1, rev sc around, join with sl st to beginning. = 142 rev sc.

Finish off

Using 4″ tail from beginning, secure round 1.

Round 25:  Join yarn to any st in round 1, Ch 1, rev sc around, join with sl st to beginning.

Finish off

Weave ends in.

That’s it… You now have a Berry Blitz Infinity Scarf!!!
