Sugar Wheel Baby Blanket CAL… Week 3!


Week 3 of our Crochet Along is now here… This is where you will finish the original size and have a great Sugar Wheel Baby Blanket!!  If you feel like continuing… I will have a week 4 & 5 of this CAL to make the blanket larger…  Posting directions on Monday 7/30 and Monday 8/6.

So let’s get week 3 on our hooks!!


This week we start with row 18 and finish with row 23, but if you are going to continue the CAL for the larger blanket.. Stop after row 21…

Round 18:  Ch 3, dc in next 6 sts, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 7 sts, (ch2,picot,ch2) around next ch 5, * dc in next 7 sts, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 7 sts, (ch2,picot,ch2) around next ch 5 sp*, repeat *to* around , join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. = 192 dc & 12 (ch2,picot,ch2)

Round 19:  Ch 3, dc in next 7 sts, dc in-between  the 2 dc’s in the previous round, dc in next 8 sts, ch 5, *dc in next 8 sts, dc in-between the 2 dc’s in the previous round, dc in next 8 sts, ch 5*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. =204 dc & 12 ch5 sps

Round 20:  Ch 3, dc in next 7 sts, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 8 sts, (ch2,picot,ch2) around next ch 5, * dc in next 8 sts, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 8 sts, (ch2,picot,ch2) around next ch 5 sp*, repeat *to* around , join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. = 216 dc & 12 (ch2,picot,ch2)

Round 21:  Ch 3, dc in next 8 sts, dc in-between  the 2 dc’s in the previous round, dc in next 9 sts, ch 5, *dc in next 9 sts, dc in-between the 2 dc’s in the previous round, dc in next 9 sts, ch 5*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. =228 dc & 12 ch5 sps

Round 22:  Ch 3, dc in next 8 sts, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 9 sts, *5dc in ch 5 sp, dc in next 9 sts, 2 dc in next st, 9 dc in next st*, repeat *to* around, 5 dc in last ch 5 sp, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. = 300 dc

Round 23: Reverse sc around, join with sl st.

Finish off and weave in ends.

Lightly block your blanket into place!!

We are now on Week 2 of the 3(4) week CAL… This is a quick and fun CAL and you can join anytime!  If you missed the CAL… For the original Sugar Wheel Baby Blanket Pattern… Click Here!!  To participate in the CAL you can get all the previous weeks(including the material list) by clicking on the Crochet With Me tab at the top of the page!!

This is made using self-striping yarn to make it even easier.. The original blanket was made using Premier Yarns Sweet Roll in Cream Pop… This CAL I am using Yarnspirations Bernat Pop in Paisley Pop!!

I will also be making my blanket a bit larger than the original.  During week 3 of the CAL I will talk about how to make this fun blanket bigger and for those of you who want to make a larger blanket,,, I will do a Week 4 of this CAL!  But you can stop at week 3 to make it baby size!!

Week 2 ~

Stitches ~

Ch ~ Chain     Sp ~ Space     St ~ Stitch     Sl St ~ Slip Stitch     Sk ~ Skip     Sc ~ Single Crochet     Dc ~ Double Crochet     Picot ~ Sc in designated st or sp, ch 3, sl st in base of sc.

Round 10:  Ch 3, dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 3 sts, (ch1,picot,ch1) around next ch 5, * dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 3 sts, (ch1,picot,ch1) around next ch 5 sp*, repeat *to* around , join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. = 96 dc & 12 (ch1,picot,ch1)

Round 11:  Ch 3, dc in next 3 sts, dc in-between  the 2 dc’s in the previous round, dc in next 4 sts, ch 5, *dc in next 4 sts, dc in-between the 2 dc’s in the previous round, dc in next 4 sts, ch 5*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. =108 dc & 12 ch5 sps

Round 12:  Ch 3, dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 4 sts, (ch2,picot,ch2) around next ch 5, * dc in next 4 sts, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 4 sts, (ch2,picot,ch2) around next ch 5 sp*, repeat *to* around , join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. = 120 dc & 12 (ch2,picot,ch2)

Round 13:  Ch 3, dc in next 4 sts, dc in-between  the 2 dc’s in the previous round, dc in next 5 sts, ch 5, *dc in next 5 sts, dc in-between the 2 dc’s in the previous round, dc in next 5 sts, ch 5*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. =132 dc & 12 ch5 sps

Lazy Daze Lawn Chair Cover… This simple chevron pattern is made using Bernat Maker Outdoor Yarn.  This awesome yarn is available in JoAnn Craft Stores and comes in Solid or Self-Striping bright colors.  It is fade and mold resistant and I really loved the way this yarn worked up… It is soft and cushy!!!

If you have old or uncomfortable lawn chairs, this is the perfect project to make your Summer space fun and bright!!

Let’s get started…

Materials:

Yarn ~ For each chair cover you will need 2 skeins of Bernat Maker Outdoor Yarn(249 yards ea). I used Fresh Orange Stripes *Thank you to Yarnspirations for sending me this beautiful yarn to make and share this project!*

Hook ~ N

Scissors

Chair Cover Size:

16″ x 35″

Stitches:

St-Stitch

Sk-Skip

Ch-Chain

Dc-Double Crochet

X St – Sk st, dc in next st, dc in previous sk st.

Instructions:

Ch 48

Row 1:  Dc in 3rd ch from hook, *dc in next 6 sts, sk 2 sts, dc in next 6 sts, 3 dc in next st*, repeat *to* 1 more time, dc in next 6 sts, sk 2 sts, dc in next 6 sts, 2 dc in last st. = 46 dc

Row 2:  Ch 2(counts as dc now and throughout), dc in same st, *3 X sts, sk 2 sts, 3 X sts, 3 dc in next st*, repeat *to* 1 more time, 3 X sts, sk 2 sts, 3 X sts, 2 dc in last st. = 18 X sts & 10 dc

Rows 3 – 38: Repeat row 2.

Finish off

Cut 5 – 6″ pieces . Tie the Lazy Day chair cover on using  3 at the top in each point and 2 on the bottom 2 corners.

That’s it!!!  You now have a Lazy Daze Lawn Chair Cover… Make as many as you want!!!

You can make the Lazy Daze Lawn Chair Cover wider by adding 16 chains at a time and wider by adding more rows.
