Crochet with Me!! Winter 2016 Crochet-A-Long… Week 5!!

Crochet with Me!! Winter 2016 Crochet-A-Long… Week 5!!

This week we will be continuing to  add more texture to our project using some of the same stitches we have already used… It is looking great and all of the progress pictures floating around are so wonderful!! I think you will love week 5 and seeing your project grow!

2016 CAL Week 5

Now for the weekly housekeeping…

*This week some people struggled a bit with the Shell/Chain Section, some had issues with it pulling in and being narrower and others had issues with the chain showing more on the back side…  This comes from tension issues… To solve this you can work at making sure your stitches are nice and relaxed, especially the chain. The chain should rest comfortably on top of the shell, then when you work the next row you will not want to crochet to tightly to make it hide.  Another thought is to go up a hook size when doing this type of stitch pattern.

*We will be Blocking the project at the end which will help with the overall look of the stitching and will help relax any stitches that may pull a bit. Also, We will have 3″ boarders on each side before we do the edging… this will help even the edges out.

*Another issue was not having the correct stitch count every so often… If you  have this issue, it is very important to count every row and/or place markers so you keep the correct number of stitches.

*Also, When doing rows with the sc and trc that make the slight bobble,,, Some of us have had an issue keeping it to the front… When making the sc that is right after the trc, make sure that it is not a loose sc.. this will help hold it in place!

Just remember,,, This is fun and should be relaxing… If an area isn’t working how you think it should, shoot me an email for advise… I will try to help if possible…

Now… Let’s get started with Week 5!!

The first part you will recognize, it is the same as week 3,, then we continue with some more fun rows!

A couple of notes from last week… All the textural stitches should be on one side, which is the right side.  If some of the rows seem to be a bit narrower that others, we will be blocking our project and putting a nice edging on at the end.. This should take care of squaring up the afghan unless it is off by a large amount.  Just make sure you are checking your  stitch count!!

So,, If you are ready, let’s get started with Week 4!!

Amazing Grace Chunky Crochet Cowl!

Amazing Grace Chunky Crochet Cowl!

I love working my Amazing Grace Patterns!!!  Sometimes I just want to whip one out in an hour or two…. The other evening I was so cold and had to go out in the snow, Then it hit me!  I had some fabulous yarn in my stash that was Super Bulky, slightly shimmering and  a lovely color.  So, I decided to make an Amazing Grace Chunky Crochet Cowl!!

If you are new to my site, my Amazing Grace Free Pattern Series is dedicated to my lovely friend Sandy who passed away from Breast Cancer in 2007.  So each pattern is made to comfort those suffering or recovering from Cancer or any hardship in life… The Amazing Grace Patterns are all made with the same simple stitch pattern throughout each pattern and are fun and easy to make!
