Welcome Back to Eye of the Storm Afghan CAL Week 13! This week we join the squares!!!

Week 13

This week I joined all 20 of my Eye of the Storm Afghan Squares… It was so exciting to see how this came together!

There are many ways to join squares, I chose the single crochet method. First, I had to decide the order of my squares and the direction that each square would sit. I chose to lay them out in the order they were made and turned each square so they were facing different directions.

Joining horizontally first

I started by attaching the rows horizontally with 4 squares, carefully lining the stitches up.

Working the join

Above you can see my single crochet method. I place wrong sides together, pick up one strand of each stitch(the two closest) and single crochet them together. This method leaves a slightly raised join which I think sets off the whimsical squares!

After I joined all the horizontal rows, next I joined them vertically. I was very careful to line up the corners, if I was off a stitch I just adjusted by doing a decrease on one side.

Here is how Eye of the Storm Afghan Week 13 turned out… All of the squares joined! Next week… The border!!!!
