I created this beautifully designed Chiffon Soiree Shawl so I would have something to wear to this years CGOA Banquet Fashion Show… Elegant, lace like work made this shawl perfect for a warm summer evening, yet beautifully catchy to get noticed by all of the wonderful crochet artists that attended the event!
This would be perfect for any wedding, holiday party or soiree. Easy to make and wear, you will be the belle of the ball! Using Red Heart Swanky Yarn, this shimmery, sequined pattern will catch the light and give a beautiful drape over your shoulders.
Materials ~
Yarn – 700 yards soft, worsted weight yarn. I used 4 Skeins of Red Heart Swanky Yarn (202 yards each) in Chiffon.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, *ch 5, sk 3 sts, sc in next st*, repeat * * across. = 48 ch5 sps
Row 2: Ch 6 (counts as trc +2 chs now and throughout), turn, sc in 1st ch 5 sp, * ch 5, sc in next ch 5 sp*, repeat * * 2 more times, {5 dc(shell) in next sc, sc in next ch 5 sp, *ch 5, sc in next ch 5 sp*, repeat * * 2 more times}, repeat { } 10 more times, ch 2, trc in last sc. = 11 5dc shells, 36 ch5 spa, 2 ch2 sps, 2 trc

Row 11: Ch 1, turn, sc in 1st st, *ch 5, sc in next ch 5 sp*, repeat * * 46 more times, ch 5, sc in 4th ch of ch6 from previous row. = 48 ch5 sps.
Rows 12-31: Repeat rows 2-11
Rows 32-37: Repeat rows 2-7
Row 38: Ch 1, turn, sc 5 in each ch5 sp and 1 sc in each sc across.= 289 sc
Row 39: Ch 1, turn, sc in 1st 3 sts, *ch 1, sk st, sc in next st*, repeat * * across to last 2 sts, sc in last 2 sts. = 289 sts
Finish off
Turn and Join yarn at bottom beginning row edge,
Row 40: Ch 1, turn, sc 5 in each ch5 sp and 1 sc in each sc across.= 289 sc
Row 41: Ch 1, turn, sc in 1st 3 sts, *ch 1, sk st, sc in next st*, repeat * * across to last 2 sts, sc in last 2 sts. = 289 sts
Finish off
Edging
Working along short ends of the shawl
Row 1: Join yarn with sl st to right corner st, Ch 1, sc 60 evenly across the side rows to the opposite side.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, Sc in same St. *Sk 2, 5 Trc in next St, Sk 2, Sc in next St.* Repeat Across. 10– Trc Shells & 11 Sc
Row 3: Ch 1 Turn, Sc in 1st St and next St, *Ch 2, Sk 1 St, Sc in next St, Ch 2, Sk 1 St, Sc in next 3 Sts* Repeat * * Across to end. Sc in last 2 Sts. = 44 Sc & 20 Ch 2 Spaces
Row 4: Ch 1 Turn, Sc in 1st St, * Sk St, 3 Dc in Ch 2 Space, 1 Dc in next Sc, 3 Dc in next Ch 2 Space, Sk St, Sc in next St* Repeat * * Across to end = 70 Dc & 11 Sc

Finish off and Weave in ends…
I recommend blocking your shawl for the best result. I used the Steam Blocking Method, but you may also dampen you shawl and pin it into place until dry.
