Sweet Treat Hearts crochet pattern uses just small amounts of scrap yarn and a hook… So easy and quick to make!!!

What you will need

Just a few yards of your scrap yarn, #4 worsted weight is great… But you can experiment, I love Red Heart Super Saver for this project!

How big are these hearts??

Mine are 4 1/2″ x 4 1/2″… But yours can be larger or smaller depending on your tension, yarn and hook choice.

The pocket fits a 2″ heart shaped cookie perfectly, 4-6 pieces of candy, even a Valentine candy pack will fit!

  • St – Stitch
  • Sk – Skip
  • Sc – Single Crochet

  • Dec Sc – Decrease Single Crochet -Insert hook in 1st st, pull up loop, insert hook in 2nd st and pull up loop, yo and draw thru all 3 loops on hook

Back of Heart

Row 1: Ch 2, sc in 2nd ch from hook. = 1 sc

Row 2: Ch 1, turn, 3 sc in st. = 3 sc

Row 3: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in 1st st, sc in next st, 2 sc in last st. = 5 sc

Row 4: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in 1st st, sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in last st. = 7 sc

Row 5: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in 1st st, sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in last st. = 9 sc

Row 6: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in 1st st, sc in next 7 sts, 2 sc in last st. = 11 sc

Row 7: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in 1st st, sc in next 9 sts, 2 sc in last st. = 13 sc

Row 8: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. = 13 sc

Row 9: Ch 1, turn, dec sc, sc in next 9 sts, dec sc. = 11 sc

Working around your heart

Row 11: Ch 1, working in side of rows evenly sc 8 sts to the bottom point , (sc, ch1,sc) in the space of the point, working up the row sides evenly sc 8 sts to the 1st sl st of row 10, Now working over the top of the heart, sc in sl st of row 10, sc in the next 3 sts, 3 sc in the next st, sc in next 3 sts, sl st in the valley st, sc in the next 3 sts, 3 sc in the next st, sc in the last 4 sts, join with sl st to 1st sc. =38 sc & 1-ch1 & 2 sl st

Do not FO

Making the front pocket of the heart

Repeat rows 1-8 of the back of the heart

With the right side of both pieces of the heart facing you, place the front piece on top of the back piece to line up.

Joining the heart pieces together to form a pocket

You will now join the pieces by working through the end of rows in the front piece to the sc sts of the back piece working through both pieces at the same time.

Ch 1, insert hook through both pieces lining the stitches up starting at row 8 of both pieces. Sc 8 sts evenly through both pieces to join across to the bottom point of both, 3 sc in the bottom point sp of both pieces, Sc 8 sts evenly up the next side to row 9 of the back piece.

Sl St in the beginning of row 9 back piece to secure. Sc in each st of the front piece across the top(13 sts) to the other end of the front piece, sl st in row 9 of the back piece to secure, join with ls st to beginng sc.

One Evening – One Skein – One Scarf is a super simple, extremely cozy, free crochet project!! Using Bernat Blanket Yarn, this whips up in one evening with a 2 row repeat! This is a #6 super bulky yarn and this project was made using an exclusive Ethereal Stripes Yarn is only available at Target! My scarf is made using the colorway Nightshade!!!

Ethereal Stripes Scarf

Now on to the scarf making…..

Size:

6″ x 8′

Materials:

220 yards of #6 Super Bulky Bernat Blanket Yarn Ethereal Stripes in the color Nightshade

P hook

Scissors and yarn needle

Stitches:

St – Stitch

Sp – Space

Sk – Skip

Ch – Chain

Sc – Single Crochet

Rev Sc – Reverse Single Crochet

FO – Finish Off

Instructions:

This is the stitch pattern known as the Moss Stitch or Linen Stitch

*I started using the end on the outside of the skein. When I got to the last color there was only about 10 yards left so I used that as the edging. If your skein isn’t that way, leave about 10 yards at the end to do the border.

1. Ch 14

2. Sc in 2nd ch from hook, *ch 1, sk ch, sc in next ch*, repeat *to* across. = 7 sc & 6 ch 1 sps

3. Ch 1, turn, sc in 1st st and ch 1 sp, *ch 1, sk st, sc in next ch sp*, repeat *to* across, sc in last st. = 8 sc & 5 ch 1 sps

4. Ch 1, turn, sc in 1st st, *ch 1, sk st, sc in next sp*, repeat *to* across ending with a sc in the last st. = 7 sc & 6 ch 1 sps

4-56. Repeat rows 2 & 3, then end with a row 2 until you have approx. 10 Yards of yarn left or you reach your desired length if you want your shorter.

Border:

57. Ch 1, turn, sc in 1st st, *ch 2, sk st, sc in next sp*, repeat *to* across ending with a sc in the last st. 7 sc & 6 ch 2 sps

58. Ch1, turn, sc in each st and ch sp across. = 13 sc

59. Ch 1, Do Not Turn, rev sc across. = 13 rev sc

FO

Join yarn at opposite end in 1st st with a sl st.

60. Repeat row 58

61. Repeat row 59

Weave in your ends

Welcome to Beatrice Ryan Designs 2025 CAL… Week 2 is the second week of crocheting this years 8 week project, My Favorite Cat Blanket!  Each Saturday I post the weekly assignment of rows and any details you may need to know!

Are you ready to continue the 2025 CAL, a fun and simple 9 week(8 weeks of crocheting) CAL?? This year we are going to make my VERY popular crochet blanket... My Favorite Cat Blanket!  Easy, Free Crochet Pattern (Also a paid PDF is available through Ravelry) AND there will be a GRAND PRIZE DRAWING at the end of the CAL(details and rules below)

Beatrice Ryan Designs 2025 CAL Week 2

For this CAL I decided to use my left over stash from the 2023 Temperature Afghan CAL… And I am loving it so far!!! Most Importantly, it will be bright and whimsical! You can use your stash or choose any color scheme you like. My original My Favorite Cat Blanket was made in a purple scheme and my daughter scooped it up right away! This is a very easy 3 row repeat project and the weekly assignment of rows will be easy to complete!

Next, Each week I will post the instructions for the 2025 CAL and any other fun details for the week! The 8 weeks of crocheting will be so much fun and easy to accomplish! Let’s Crochet Week 2:

We ended last week with row 14, this week we will be doing 15 more rows for a total of 29!

Using 2 or more colors makes the cat design pop!

Tips:

  • It is super easy, there are only a few ends to weave in for this project.
  • Use two or more contrasting colors to get the best effect.
  • You can choose any color scheme to make it your own.
  • After the first 2 rows, each color is used for 3 row repeating
  • I carry my yarn up the sides instead of finishing off and work over it when doing the edging

Size ~

46″ x 60′ – This can vary due to personal tension or yarn differences

Stitches ~

  • Ch – Chain
  • St – Stitch
  • Sl St – Slip Stitch
  • Sk – Skip
  • Sc – Single Crochet
  • Hdc – Half Double Crochet
  • Dc – Double Crochet
  • YO – Yarn Over
  • DS Cl – Drop Stitch Cluster: Yo, insert hook 2 rows below between (2dc, ch1, 2dc)’s encapsulating both rows, pull up loop, yo, draw up loop in same space, yo, draw through all 5 loops on hook. Keep your loops you pull up to the same height as the row you are working on. See Picture below

Here is this weeks details for the 2025 CAL incase you need to reference the prior info:

  1. Decide how you want to use the pattern, 1. Go to the original post on the website each week for the full version, 2. Come to the website each Saturday for the weekly instruction post, 3. Sign up for email delivery of all my posts (Find the Stay Connected tab on the righthand side of the website), 4. Purchase the Full PDF Version for $4.99 or receive the 50% off ($2.49)discount code in my Beatrice Ryan Designs CAL Facebook Group! Click Here to go to Ravelry for the Purchase
  2. Choose Your Yarn and Hook: Here is what I used in the original pattern ~Yarn: Lion Brand Pound of Love – 3 skeins (1020 yds each): Color A – Cinnabar Color B – Quartz Color C – White and an H Hook and Scissors *I will be using scrap yarn this time!
  3. Come back each week for the next set crochet instructions!

Instructions:

You must use 2 or more colors, the original pattern used 3 colors so it is written to have A, B & C but you can just switch colors every 3 rows where it indicates to change colors to make your own design)

*Here are the instructions of the original rows you repeat!

(Row 2: Ch 3(counts as dc now and throughout), turn, dc in next st, *(2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next ch 1 sp*, repeat *to* across, dc in last 2 sts. = 29 (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) & 4 dc

Drop color A after you repeat row 2 twice and Pick up color B

Row 3: Ch 3, turn, dc in next st, * ds cl 2 rows in sp 2 rows below (between last rows)see pic above), (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next ch 1 sp*, repeat *to* 28 more times, ds cl in next sp 2 rows below, dc in last 2 sts. = 29 (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc), 30 ds cl & 4 dc)

This Weeks instructions…. Rows 15-29: For each color you will do 3 rows (row 3 once, and row 2 twice). Starting this week with a repeat of row 3 in the chosen color and then 2 rows of row 2. This will be 5 sets of new cats!!!

That’s it!!! You are now done with week 2. I hope you are loving it so far!
