Welcome to Beatrice Ryan Designs 12th Annual 2026 Mystery Winter Afghan CAL! This is Week 1 – You will find all the info you need to join the fun and start this years Crochet Along! And don’t miss how you could win the Grand Prize!

Whether you are a beginner or longtime crocheter… You can do this, maybe you will learn some new and fun stitching techniques!

2026 CAL Week 1

This year will be a fun project using standard stitches to make this afghan have texture and and a fun look depending on your choice of yarns!

You can use self-striping yarn, ombre yarn, one color, scrapghan style… Whatever you would like!

About the yarn choices

The pattern will be written to use worsted weight yarn. Below is what I will be using, but you can choose to use your favorite color or style of look by changing up the colors and how many you use! This would be great as a scrapghan!

Color A – Caron Cinnamon Swirl Cakes in the color Latte – 4 cakes 407 yards each

Color B – Loops & Threads Impeccable Yarn in Putty – 4 skeins 285 each

Hook I for the base and H for smaller sections.or your size hook to obtain gauge which will be posted next week

The pattern is designed in sections and when making the main sections with Color A, it is designed to use 1 full skein per section. Color B will be accent color in between sections and the border color.

Where I love to buy yarn

Target.com Yes then now have yarn

Yarnspirations –They carry Caron, Red Heart and Bernat and as of today are having 30% off sale

Amazon – Also easy to order from

Stitches and Textures

Some of the stitches and techniques we will use include all the basic stitches – sc, hdc, dc, trc, ch, sl st, fp and bp stitches. Some of the end textures include a bobble style stitching, the moss or linen stitch, and as you can see in the picture below… fun textures!

Afghan Sizing

The project should be 48″ x 72″ when finished and blocked with the designed border. You can choose to leave this project without a border or design your own if you don’t like the style we will make. The style of the border will be revealed in full prior to you making it.

Here is a hint of part of the project!!!
